John's Pass (was it ever called St John's?), located in Pinellas County on the barrier island which makes up St. Petersburg and Madeira Beaches. I am certain these fishermen are after snook, which were big and plentiful around these waters. I've seen recent aerial photographs of the pass, and this bridge looks as if it's long gone. I believe they've added a "village" there, constructed to accommodate the adventurous souls who make a day trip from Orlando. The snook could care less. An absolute must if you're in the area is a meal at Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish. The smoked black mullet is dynamite, along with some German potato salad, slaw and a cold beer. |
